4.      His ancestors belonged to niDugonDe agrahara, gunDikara in the Guntur region of Andhrapradesh. Later the clan migrated to Dharwar and North Canara regions. Pampa had brief soujorns in Banavasi in North Canara district of Karnataka. His Mother hailed from Annigeri town in Dharawar district.

5.      Religion-Caste: Jaina. His ancestors were converted from Brahmanism

8.      Brief Introduction: Pampa is one of the major poets of Kannada whose works have survived the ravages of time and the fluctuations of literary criterion for more than ten centuries. His works have retained contemporary relevance because they address the fundamental problems of human beings and the societal realities created by the. Perennial themes such as war, conjugal relations, craze for power and consequent catstrophes in human relations and the relations that prevail among man, nature and God are dealt with in his works in a mature and artistic manner. Pampa had to tackle many problems as the first important poet of a language. He had to establish a meaningful relationship with Sanskrit not sacrificing the needs of the indigenous culture. He had to forge a synthesis between the philosophical tenets of his religion and  the needs of the militant political power.  He had to restructure Mahabharata and Mahapurana the foundational texts of Indian culture. He formulated a poetics of his own which could absorb external influences and still be unique. The fact that he could accomplish all this and provided a model for succeeding generations of poets bears ample testimony to his literary merits.
